Deadline:15 January 2014
Preservation Action Advocacy Scholars Program is accepting papers from students to participate in Historic Preservation Advocacy Week being held from 3 to 6 March 2014 in Washington DC. The organization aims to involve students in the Historic Preservation Advocacy Week, an educational event, to allow them gain a broader perspective on preservation policy through the briefings by leading advocates on the field. The event brings together 250 preservationists at a place to advocate for stronger federal preservation policies. The participants present their unified voice for preservation on issues facing historic communities and places directly to Congress.
Students who are enrolled in undergraduate or graduate programs related to Historic Preservation, Public Policy or Law can apply for the scholarship with a 3-5 page paper on a ‘Preservation Policy or Advocacy’ topic accompanied by a cover letter and proof of enrollment. The scholarship includes complimentary registration to Advocacy week in addition to the stipend. Students will be invited as guests and awarded scholarship in the reception ceremony of Preservation Action to Advocacy Week, in the presence of Members of Congress from their district or state. A member of Preservation Action will be paired as mentor to each student during the entire week. Each of the students will present their winning paper to their hometown Member of Congress at their district offices.
