European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR) is pleased to invite applications for Country-Based Support Scheme (CBSS) in Botswana. The purpose of this proposal is to support civil society in Botswana in their work on human rights and democratization. The overall indicative amount made available under this Call for Proposals is EUR 600.000.
Priority areas-
- Advocacy and promotion of political and social dialogue on core human rights values, for example freedom of expression, the death penalty, minority rights and LGBTI issues
- Actions aimed at integrating into national legislation International Human Rights Treaties to which Botswana is a state party
- Facilitate access to justice
Eligibility & Criteria-
- be legal persons
- be non profit making
- belong to one of the following categories as defined per Article 10 of the EIDHR Regulation . However, in case of a multi-beneficiary grant, an International Organization cannot be the applicant-
- Civil society organisations, including non-governmental organisations and independent political foundations, community based organisations, and private sector agencies, institutions and organisations and networks thereof at local, national, regional and international level
- Public sector non-profit agencies, institutions and organisations and networks at local, national, regional and international level
- National, regional and international parliamentary bodies, when this is necessary to achieve the objectives of this instrument and unless the proposed measure can be financed under a related Community external assistance instrument
- be nationals of Botswana or of a Member State of the European Union, in an official candidate country as recognized by the European Union or in a Member State of the European Economic Area
- be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the action with the co-applicant(s) and affiliated entity(ies), not acting as an intermediary
- be able to demonstrate that they have regularly carried out activities in the field of human rights and democracy at least during the last two years at the time of submission of an application.
