Interested researchers are invited for Grant Opportunity: Reducing the Burden of Preterm Birth under Grand Challenges in Global Health. This program is supported by The Brazilian Ministry of Health and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in collaboration with Brazil’s National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) and Brazilian state-based research foundations have launched Grand Challenges Brazil, a partnership framework for joint programs.
Objectives-
- acquire a better understanding of the biological and behavioral causes of preterm birth
- develop new strategies to prevent preterm birth
- develop new interventions to improve the survival, health, and development of preterm infants
- determine how to scale-up known, effective prevention and treatment strategies
Eligibility & Criteria-
Grants will be to Brazilian researchers, but partnerships with researchers in other countries are also encouraged, especially where the opportunity exists to build on existing collaborations and show that new interventions are applicable to diverse settings thereby increasing the likelihood of achieving broad and sustained impact. Solutions developed through the Grand Challenges Brazil preterm birth program could have broad impact both within Brazil and beyond its borders.
