The Buckminster Fuller Institute is inviting entries from scientists, designers, architects, activists, planners, artists, entrepreneurs and ecologists around the world for ‘The Buckminster Fuller Challenge’ 2014. The major purpose of the challenge is to catalyze wide-spread change in our understanding and approach to solving complex global problems.
Initiatives that tackle urgent needs at multiple scales – from macro-strategies that have the potential for widespread, tangible impacts, to local, community-based initiatives with global relevance and replicability are highly encouraged.
There will be separate benefits to entry participants who meet the criteria, semi-finalists, finalists and winners.
Winners will receive –
- $100,000 cash prize to support the on-going development and implementation of their winning solution
- Round trip airfare for the team leader or representative (accommodations included) to receive the prize at a ceremony
- The OmniOculi award sculpture
Eligibility –
- Entry must put forth an original idea that creatively addresses a critical need.
- Entry must be comprehensive, anticipatory and ecologically responsible.
- Entry must also be feasible, verifiable and replicable.
- The entry initiative must put forward the powerful design solutions that have the potential to play a significant role in the transition to an equitable and sustainable future for all.
