SIDA (Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency) is working with LIFE Academy, Stockholm University, Department of Computer and Systems Sciences to offer advanced training on Efficient Energy Use and Planning. The program teaches participants strategies to engage in implementing a project that works towards achieving energy efficiency that is sustainable. The program is designed for decision makers, managers, planners, specialists, and trainers in the field of energy. Those authorized to actively engage in reforming energy processes in the country are encouraged to apply.
SIDA’s training on Efficient Energy Use and Planning is divided into five sections – sustainable energy systems, situation analysis tools, energy efficiency tools in action, energy efficiency implementation and change project and the processes of change. The first section introduces the elements of energy sector including energy efficiency, renewable energy sources, and environmental impacts of renewable energy, costs involved and others. The second section involves learning about long term energy efficiency strategic planning at the local and national levels. Energy consumption analysis, potential for energy savings, and related methods will be taught. In the third section, energy efficiency technical measures as well as description, evaluation, and verification methods will be presented. In the forth section, management, participation, and organizational practices and processes as well as various policy measures that can be used are covered. The final section focuses on project management and networking to support change using the participant’s own Change Project in the learning process.
Eligibility Criteria –
- All countries are eligible to participate in this program, however the following countries are receiving first priority: China, India, Kenya, Mongolia, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia.
- In addition to completing the application form, applicants must include a Change Project that they will use throughout this program. This project must be supported by the applicant’s organization.
- must certify English proficiency on the application form.
