SIDA (Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency) is working with Lund University to develop the Child Rights, Classroom, and School Management program and is accepting applications from school administrators, educational advisers working to develop methods and manage at both the classroom and school levels across a number of schools (e.g., school system or school cluster); trainers and officers working at the district, province, intermediate level; teachers, school administrators, and staff working centrally and with a ministry of education at the national level; and NGO staff who work with education and human rights. Using a child rights-based framework, this program provides participants with change processes that support the implementation of the Child Rights Convention in both policy and practice.
Through this program participants will learn about laws, regulations, and policies related to child rights, classroom, and school management; important elements of children’s right to education; the role of the school and education in society; how to use ICT effectively to meet these goals; key leadership and organizational structures and models; how education is used in sustainable development; as well as handling challenging situations (e.g., bullying, abuse, etc.).
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicant must be from one of these countries – Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, China, Colombia, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Liberia, Mali, Malawi, Namibia, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Uganda, Vietnam, and Zambia.
- Applicants must possess a university or teacher-training degree with a minimum of 5 years education-related experience, between the ages of 30 and 55 years old, and fluent in English, as the program will be offered in English. Teams of applicants should be a mix of women and men, and must be supported by their organization.
- A team of three (3) individuals each representing the School, Intermediate, and Central levels of education is preferred. Collaboration of the team is expected throughout this program. Individuals can also apply.
