The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is seeking applications to fund a four (4) year program entitled Community Recovery and Livelihoods Project (CRLP) in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).
This is full and open competition, under which any type of organization, large or small, commercial (for profit) firms, faith-based, and non-profit organizations in partnerships or consortia from geographical code 935, are eligible to compete.
Funding Size:
USAID intends to provide approximately $20,000,000 for four years, subject to the availability of funds.
Project Purpose:
The purpose of this multi-sectoral Community Recovery and Livelihoods Project (CRLP) is to promote stable socio-economic recovery in targeted communities in eastern DRC, especially in areas where SGBV and gender inequalities are considered as major challenges to stability and reconciliation. For the purpose of this project, the term “livelihoods” is defined as the means by which households obtain and maintain access to the resources necessary to ensure their immediate and long-term survival. These essential resources can be categorized into six categories: physical, natural, human, financial, social, and political
Project Focus:
Except as otherwise agreed, CRLP project must be undertaken in at least two or all of the following three provinces: North Kivu, South Kivu, and Orientale (Ituri District). Specific target areas within these provinces will be the geographic area covered by the six strategic axes identified by the ISSSS and STAREC. It is not required to cover all six strategic axes.
PROJECT COMPONENTS
Project Applicants must address the specific concerns of women and girls – particularly victims of violence – as being central to the program. This includes helping communities develop security plans and mechanisms to ensure, as much as possible, the physical security of its members. The project will target a minimum of 60 communities in some or all of the following target provinces: North Kivu, South Kivu, and Orientale (Ituri District). The Applicant must identify appropriate implementation strategies to avoid further stigmatizing beneficiary marginalized groups mentioned above.
