The Royal Commonwealth Society is accepting applications for a five-day forum program in Malta. Many young people from across the commonwealth will be discussing on gender inequality issues. It is a key opportunity to discuss gender equality concerns and priorities ahead of active engagement in the Commonwealth Youth Forum, People’s Forum and Women’s Forum.
Themes: Child marriage, sexual violence, domestic violence, harmful practices, economic empowerment, leadership, access to education, entrepreneurship, LGBT rights, STEM, and sexual and reproductive health and rights.
The Royal Commonwealth Society, founded in 1868, is a network of individuals and organizations committed to improving the lives and prospects of Commonwealth citizens across the world. Through youth empowerment, education and advocacy, the Royal Commonwealth Society promotes the value and the values of the Commonwealth.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants should be:
- aged between 18 and 29 at the start of the event
- a resident in a Commonwealth country (Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Botswana, Brunei, Cameroon, Canada, Cyprus, Dominica, Fiji, Ghana, Grenada, Guyana, India, Jamaica, Kenya, Kiribati, Lesotho, Malawi, Malaysia, Maldives, Malta, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Nauru, New Zealand, Nigeria, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Rwanda, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Samoa, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Singapore, Solomon Islands, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Swaziland, Tanzania, Tonga, Trinidad and Tobago, Tuvalu, Uganda, United Kingdom, Vanuatu, Zambia).
- committed to upholding the Commonwealth values of good governance and sustainable development
- fluent in English – the working language of the Forum
- medically fit to travel and participate in the Forum
- able to evidence professional or voluntary experience on gender equality issues
- willing to share case studies and highlight relevant aspects of my work
- willing to be an active participant and to spread the values and outcomes of the network in my home country
