The great opportunity is offered to two women entrepreneurs in the new media sector to join an upcoming class of Goldman Sachs 10,000 Women in India by International Women’s Media Foundation. A world class education will be received by the participants through 10,000 Women which is alert on helping industrialist to think big and expand their businesses. Chosen women entrepreneurs will take delivery of full scholarships to participate in the thirteen week program in Bengaluru beginning on August 15, 2011 and details are available in Goldman Sachs 10,000 Women brochure. The Foundation is celebrating its 20th anniversary as if it was launched in 1990 with a mission of strengthening the role of women in the news media worldwide as a means to further freedom of the press.
The IWMF released a long-awaited global research report on the status of women at the International Conference of Women News Leaders in Washington, D.C.
Top women executives at the conference drafted plans to improve the status of women in their home countries, and heard from industry leaders about the state of the global media
Participation of new media women entrepreneurs is an effort to diversify the emerging digital news media landscape by expanding the voice and role of women entrepreneurs. Limited access to credit and training, coupled with cultural stereotypes and outdated perceptions, threaten women’s full participation as entrepreneurs in the digital news media. Men receive 95 percent of venture capital funds and almost 75 percent of training in starting a business. The initiative tackles this disparity head on by combating the twin obstacles of access to financing and access to skills development.
The 10,000 Women application is open to women entrepreneurs with financial need who own businesses that use digital media in innovative ways to deliver news. Please see the application for more details about eligibility. Businesses must demonstrate growth potential and have accompanying business plans. Preference is given to women entrepreneurs that employ at least five people.
10,000 Women is a five-year investment by Goldman Sachs to provide 10,000 underserved women around the globe with a business and management education. 10,000 Women operates through a network of more than 70 academic and non-profit partners to develop locally relevant coursework for students and to improve the quality and capacity of business education
