The Vodafone Foundation in association with the Digital Empowerment Foundation has launched the Women & Innovation for Mobile (WIN) Award. In this context, nominations are being sought from mobile application developers and content & service producers whose mobile innovations and products have had direct relevance to women in India in terms of greater social, cultural, economic and political empowerment.
Winning entries will qualify for funding grants to further develop their solutions creating new opportunities for women and bridging the information and service gaps which exist today.
Aims & Objectives of the WIN Awards
The key objectives of the WIN Awards are:
- To honor and recognize innovative mobile applications and solutions benefitting women users in the following 3 categories – education, health & family welfare, and economic empowerment & entrepreneurship.
- Provide the 3 wining mobile solutions with a grant of 44,00,000 INR to scale up their project and consolidate their objectives. They will also be appointed a mentor to help their projects.
- Stimulate development of innovative mobile applications benefitting women and encourage widespread usage of these services.
- Providing a dedicated platform for stakeholders for partnership, enhancing outreach of mWomen and supporting the scalability of projects.
Nominee Categories
The WIN Awards are open for the following nominee categories:
- Mobile Application Developers: innovative apps, applications, contents, services and products which would be using mobile platform to reach the women users and in effect enabling them greater empowerment shall be eligible to apply.
- Mobile Application content & service producers: Products and services which have demonstrated a positive impact among the women user community in areas of education, health and economic empowerment are eligible to apply.
