Global Voices Summit 2012, a meeting of bloggers, activists and technologists for public discussions and workshops is being organized in Nairobi, Kenya. The theme for this year’s Global Voices Summit is the cataclysmic rise of online citizen media over the past years and especially in 2011.
Global Voices is a community comprising more than 500 translators as well as bloggers engaged in bringing forward reports from citizen media, blogs and other forms of media. These people are trying to make those voices heard in the international media which are otherwise not heard.
Global Voices organize a biennial Summit which brings together contributing members with a wider community of global bloggers, scholars, technologists, journalists and others interested in sharing ideas on developments in online citizen media spearheaded by people throughout the world. Previous Summits have taken place in London, New Delhi, Budapest, and Santiago.
The Summit also offers an opportunity for contributors living all over the world to meet personally and discuss the future direction of the organization in an internal two-day meeting.
