The Pact is accepting applications from qualified civil society organizations working in the cross-borders of Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, South Sudan and Somalia to support the implementation of PEACE III.
Pact intends to award between US$160,000 to $240,000 in total funding per award for two 2 years. Pact anticipates awarding 2 to 3 grant awards. The anticipated program period is two years. Anticipated start date is May 2, 2015.
The PEACE III program is a new five year Cooperative Agreement awarded to Pact and Mercy Corps by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) East Africa Mission. The aim is to strengthen local cross-border conflict management.
Eligibility Criteria
Potential applicants must:
- Be incorporated or legally registered with the appropriate country authorities.
- Must have a strong presence in the geographical areas for which they are requesting to implement the activities.
- Must demonstrate that they are recognized and accepted by the community in which they operate.
- A minimum of three years demonstrated experience with cross-border peace-building programming with projects of a similar size.
- Demonstrate a wide acceptance by the peace structures in the targeted cluster(s) e.g. local government, District Peace Committees, communities etc.
- Past experience in building capacity and mentoring local government, CBOs, community leaders, organized groups among others.
