RAF(Research & Advocacy Fund): Call for Proposals Round 5

RAF is managed by a consortium of agencies from Pakistan and the UK led by the British Council. The fund aims to stimulatae research that is relevant, accessible and useful to policy makers, and to support advocacy initiative that use research based evidence to influence MNH Policies and practices.

The fund encourages research and/or advocacy proposals from public and private organizations, civil society organization, research institutes, consultants and consortia with the capacity to undertake research and advocacy

RAF is now inviting concept papers for research and/or advocacy projects aimed at generating/using research based evidence to bring about transformational change in MNH policies and practices for poor and marginalized women and communities.

RAF continues to seek proposals for both research and advocacy projects, however in the current round proposals on advocacy will be prioritized. Concept papers must be prepared to address one of the following priority topics:

  • Family Planning
  • Nutrition
  • Gender Based Approaches to Maternal and Newborn Health
  • Strengthening Voice and Accountability for Maternal and Newborn Health

    Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai Welfare Society (SALBWS) is a national, public interest, non-governmental and non-profitable organization registered as Provincial level organization with Department of Social Welfare, Government of Sindh since 2001 (REGD 1833 DSW). (Registration and Control) Ordinance 1961 (XL VI of 1961). Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai Welfare Society (SALBWS) is a registered, for Ever tax exempted and working since 1999 in health, HIV/AIDS, Education, Poverty alleviation, Domestic Violence against women, water and sanitation and infrastructure development, Human Rights through capacity building and direct interventions. Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai Welfare Society (SALBWS) is benefiting more than 10 million populations of 16940 villages in 18 District Province of Sindh.

    The informal conception of this organization took place more than 4 years ahead of its formal inception and since then it has been zealously working in different welfare projects to achieve its objectives. During this period, it has gained confidence and cooperation of many social organizations, donor agencies and philanthropists to implement its projects in the health, education and social welfare sectors. In spite of facing financial constrains and social hindrances since its establishment, Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai Welfare Society (SALBWS) has been able to implement, run and complete many welfare projects in Sindh, especially in rural areas, for the betterment of poor and needy people. Through the confidence of the donors, courtesy of the colleagues and selfless hard work of the staff, this organization had received a vision to work under a formulized umbrella with broad mandate and strategy.



     To provide for health requirement for the poor people living in rural / semi urban areas of Sindh.
     To provide Harm Reduction services to drug users.
     To promote literacy.
     Awareness raising on health issues. (HIV/AIDS, STIs, TB, HCV, Malaria, child labor etc.
     Improve the Development of children by providing quality education and timely medical services to them.

     ECONOMIC Empowerment of women through education and vocational training focusing on poverty alleviation.
     To promote, collaborate, assist and maintain links with other similar national and international organizations and establish a health and environmental management institution.
     To support cause and efforts for healthy and pollution free environment of any organization.
     To encourage any healthy activities by youth and children on environment and health awareness.

    SALBWS plans to continue to work with more enthusiasm and dedication with the support of its colleagues and donors to achieve its objectives effectively.
