The United States Agency for International Development is seeking applications from organizations to fund “Caring for Children and Empowering Young People” program.
Under this activity, USAID seeks to enable more Tanzanian Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC, defined as children, adolescents and young people orphaned and made vulnerable by HIV and other adversities) to utilize age-appropriate HIV/AIDS-related and other services for improved care, health, nutrition, education, protection, livelihoods and psychosocial well-being.
Funding Information
USAID will give one Cooperative Agreement providing $65 million approximately as funds.
Focus Areas
- Strengthen families who care for orphans and other vulnerable children through activities such as economic strengthening and psychosocial interventions.
- Support the capacity of communities to ensure a locally owned and sustainable response.
- Build the capacity of social service systems to provide essential services such as primary health care, access to education, and protection.
- Allocate resources for children according to need; ensuring that children receive essential services according to their context, gender, and age-specific vulnerabilities.
Identification Process
New beneficiaries will be identified through:
- HIV-specific service referrals
- Social service referrals
- Community identification
Eligibility Criteria
- U.S private voluntary organizations (U.S. PVOs), Tanzanian or other non-U.S. non-governmental organizations (NGOs) or private, non-profit organizations (or for-profit companies willing to forego profits), including universities, research organizations, professional associations, and relevant special interest associations are eligible to apply for the award.
- Public International Organizations (PIOs) and faith-based and community organizations are also eligible for award.
