Applications are invited from the qualified candidates for the post of National Gender Planning Expert by United Nations Development Programme(UNDP). Fluency in English (written and oral) is required. The knowledge of another UN language will be an asset. Job location is Kampala, Uganda and the duration of initial contract is one year(full time).
Duties and Responsibilities :
- Ensures implementation of NPA’s UNJPGE planned strategies and adapts processes and procedures.
- Ensures facilitation of knowledge building.
- Providing technical support and backstopping on gender responsive planning and ensuring coherence between the National and sub national levels and between sectors.
- Develop user friendly and practical guidelines, manuals, tools, models and benchmarks for gender responsive planning and implementation at all levels in line with the NDP.
- Provide technical support to NPA in undertaking policy and program evaluation.
- Provide technical support to NPA in undertaking policy and program gendered assessments to generate lessons that inform NDP implementation.
- Develop and integrate a gender responsive M&E framework into the national Monitoring and Evaluation system.
- Facilitate relevant dialogue mechanisms with key stakeholders from Government, parliament and CSO on the gender dimensions of the NDP.
- Undertake capacity building activities in gender responsive planning, programming and implementation
- Providing technical support to other UN Women programmes including GEPMI and the Women’s Economic Empowerment initiative at national.
Qualifications and Experience :
- Advanced University degree in Gender Studies, Development Planning and other related social science disciplines is must
- Certification in project planning and management is required.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience at the national level in providing technical guidance in gender mainstreaming
- Additional experiences in working under Government of Uganda procedures and systems
- Prior experience in the UN System is also an added advantage
Language requirements:
