The Canon Collins Trust invites applications from women in SADC countries for the Graça Machel Scholarships for Honors, Masters and PhD study at South African University. Preference is given to the women who have experienced significant struggle in their lives and who have sought to overcome these difficulties.
The funding is provided for up to one year for Honors, two years for Masters and three years for PhD studies. The scholarship covers full tuition, stipend (ZAR52,000 for South Africans, and ZAR60,000 for non-South African) and other support for Honors, masters or PhD study at South African university along with travel allowance of ZAR7,000.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicant must be a female from one of the following countries- Angola, Botswana, DRC, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe.
- Applicant must be the resident of one of the above mentioned SADC countries.
- Applicant must be seeking the scholarship to study at honors, masters or doctoral level.
- Applicant must be registered to study or have applied to study at a South African University. If the candidate selected for scholarship fails to secure registration in a South African University/college, her scholarship will be withdrawn.
Application materials include- copy of degree certificates, certified academic transcripts, reference letters from two referees and identity document (passport, birth certificate, driver’s license). Additional documents in may be proof of refugee status (if applicable), two payslips (if currently employed), and PhD proposal (if applicable).
Note: The reference letters must be uploaded along with other supporting documents in the online application form to be submitted by the deadline, but if the referee prefers to submit the reference on their own, they must email the letters early and the receipt of the letters will be sent to the applicant who should upload the receipt in the online application form. Incomplete forms cannot be successfully submitted.
