An Oxford Debate on Open Educational Practices (OEP), organized by the Open Educational Quality Initiative (OPAL) will be held on UNESCO’s WSIS-OER platform. OPAL is a consortium in Europe, with UNESCO as one of its key members. The debate will be held online, from 12 to 24 October, 2011.
This is the second OPAL Oxford Debate. This topic for the current debate is “Would mainstreaming the use of Open Educational Practices (OEP) really transform education?”
The main aims of the debate are to discus and analyze OEP policies. It will also focus on supervising and initiating the implementation of the OEP policies in institutions that use open educational resources (OER). The OPAL initiative will include an organized work plan for the implementation of OEP, and the present debate is a part of that work plan.
UNESCO is a one the prime supporters of the OPAL Open Educational Practices. The organization has also been contributing significantly in the promotion of the Registry of OER Champions and the Clearinghouse of Open Educational Practices.
The main aim of OPAL is to facilitate the implementation and development of Open Educational Resources (OER) by developing new and unique open educational practices.
