(13) Strategic Meetings with Government Officials

All through the project duration, a series of strategic meetings will be organised with policymakers periodically to strengthen civil society-NGO dialogue and facilitate appropriate policy formulation practices. In these meetings, project results and risks will be shared and action strategies developed with inputs from them. Further, in any possible area of development, the project will support the government, as requested. Policy support consultation will also be provided.

Justification

Policy-level influence is critical especially at this point of time in Nepal when there will be a new democratically elected government soon enough and a new permanent constitution to be in place. Advocacy for better laws, especially in relation to the empowerment of women and girl children and prevention of all forms of discrimination is necessary in addition to better economic policies centred around the development of the conflict-affected populations. These strategic meetings have been designed for this very purpose. These meetings will also provide an opportunity for either parties to build synergy.

Role of Partners

Proponent Organization: Proponent Organization will take the lead in organizing these meetings periodically.

Partner NGOs: Partner NGOs will also be part of these meetings in providing valuable feedback to policymakers.
