InnovationXchange, the Australian aid program, is currently inviting applications from around the world for the Blue Economy Challenge. The program will contribute to food security, nutrition, livelihoods and economic growth through aquaculture.
The challenge is open to solutions that have been demonstrated successfully elsewhere, but the application must make the case for success in the developing world and in particular the Indian Ocean.

- Infrastructure, trade facilitation and international competitiveness
- Agriculture, fisheries and water
- Effective governance
- Education and health
- Building resilience: humanitarian assistance, disaster risk reduction and social protection
- Gender equality and empowering women and girls
Award
Up to AU$750,000 will be awarded for solutions and innovations in the following categories:
- Design and validation (up to AU$250,000)
- Positioning for scale (AU$250,000-750,000)
Eligibility Criteria
The challenge invites innovators, entrepreneurs, designers, NGOs and academics to rethink advances in aquaculture to provide solutions that ensure both sustainable development and environmental sustainability.
