The Aid to Uprooted People (AUP) programme is based on the (DCI) Regulation No. 1905/2006 of 18 December 2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council establishing a financing instrument for development co-operation1. Several countries in Asia including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, the Philippines, Sri Lanka and Thailand, have benefited from the Programme over the last few years.
The aims of the programme for Asia as a whole are to (1) ensure the link between Relief, Rehabilitation and Development in crises involving uprooted people; (2) find durable solutions; (3) promote Peace-Building and Reconciliation; (4) protect of uprooted people; and (5) address the needs of demobilised former combatants and child soldiers.
