First held in 2001, the International Human Rights Colloquium is a forum that was created to bring together human rights activists and scholars from Latin America, Africa, and Asia. The Colloquium is aimed towards creating a space for participating members to share their experiences and knowledge with other participants from different regions of the world. The participants also get a chance to access innovative perspectives regarding different human rights issues and create new partnerships.
The XI Colloquium aims to create a multiplier effect that benefits both the participants and their organizations. The program of activities includes lectures, workshops and seminar. In the morning sessions, general conferences will be held and in the afternoon sessions, participants will take part in workshops and seminars, discuss case studies and make visits to organizations.
The XI International Colloquium seeks to bring together a diverse group of young activists and scholars from the Global South to collectively discuss the implementation at the national level of decisions and recommendations given by regional and international systems for human rights protection.
Given the central theme of the XI Colloquium, applications are invited from human rights activists with experience in working to implement international and regional recommendations at the national level, or are interested in expanding their work in these fields. Human rights activists from the Global South with at least two years of work experience in the field will be selected.
