The Center for Reproductive Rights invites applications for the position of Human Rights Fellow from around the world. It is for U.S Policy and Advocacy Program who will report to the Senior Human Right Counsel. The Center will provide a competitive salary corresponding to experience and comprehensive benefits program. The duration of this position is two years, i.e. September 2015 – August 2017.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducting human rights documentation in the U.S. in support of advocacy efforts;
- Conducting legal and factual research and analysis to support advocacy on reproductive rights at the state, federal, and international levels;
- Drafting advocacy materials on reproductive rights issues for U.S. audiences that incorporate a human rights analysis;
- Representing the Center and conducting oral advocacy before international and regional human rights mechanisms concerning reproductive rights issues in the United States;
- Cultivating relationships with key stakeholders in the domestic and global human rights movements;
- Engaging in public speaking and other representation of the Center at external events;
- Supervising the work of interns and support staff in the U.S. Policy and Advocacy Program;
- Serving as the liaison to the Global Legal Program to ensure coordination of work across the Center’s programmatic departments.
The Center for Reproductive Rights is a non-profit organization that supports for women’s equality worldwide by securing reproductive rights in constitutional and international human rights law.
Eligibility Criteria
- Strong commitment to the Center’s mission, purpose, and values.
- Prior work or volunteer experience in women’s rights, reproductive rights, or civil rights;
- Experience integrating human rights strategies into a multifaceted advocacy campaign;
- Knowledge of international and regional human rights law and mechanisms;
- Strong legal research and analytical skills;
- Excellent presentation, writing and communication skills;
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse actors and constituencies;
- Ability to work collaboratively, to multi-task, and to work under pressure;
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail;
- Fluency in spoken and written Spanish highly preferred;
- Some domestic and possibly international travel required.
- D. or LL.M. in international law;
- At least 1-2 years post-graduate experience with human rights advocacy, preferably as applied to the United States.
