This is a very important part of this online application system. Here you have to present your activities that promote human rights of women and girls and convince the evaluation committee your work is contributing significantly towards women and girls’ rights.
There are five questions in this section:
Q1: Please tell us when and why your group was formed and by whom. On what date was the group founded?
Here you have to write the history of your group i.e. when it was formed, by whom, what was the group formed, what was its objective. You have to provide a brief but complete description of what social problem the group intended to solve or what inspired the group formation. You may write like this:
“For many years, women rights have not been recognized and women are still now not treated as equally as men in Bangladesh. Situation was worst in 80’s when a group of prominent feminist human rights workers working in different sector of the country formed Bangladesh Rural Women’s Group (imaginary) in 1983 under dynamic leadership of Mr. X, Ms. Y to protect and uphold human rights of women in Bangladesh. The prime objective which inspired the establishment of the Group was to end gender based violence in the country and improve quality of life of the underprivileged women and girls of the country by advocating for their social, economic and political rights. Since establishment, the Group initiated several countrywide programs to protect and promote rights of women and girls. The Group is one of the few organizations in Bangladesh to undertake voter education campaign for women in Bangladesh. In 1990, BWRG adopted massive countrywide advocacy program for equal inheritance for women. Besides human rights, the Group also undertakes women’s economic empowerment and girls’ education programs”
Please be sure to provide complete information in brief.
Q2: Please indicate where your group primarily works (i.e., districts, states, provinces, etc.). If you have offices in several areas, please indicate their locations.
Here you have to indicate geographical region of your working area.
Q3: What is the mission of your group and how does it relate to the issues you seek to address?
Here you have to mention your organizational mission statement. The important part of this section is that you have to relate the mission statement to the problems your group wants to address. A mission statement should be clear, specific, and provides a strong indication of what the group/organization desires to become or achieve. Mission statement should include following information:
- The purpose of the group/organization
- The business of the organization
- The values of the organization
Suppose your mission statement is: “Bangladesh Rural Women’s Group (BRWG) is committed to promote and protect human rights of women and girls of Bangladesh by advocating for their access to social, economic and legal services. BRWG promotes professionalism and volunteerism among feminist activists and support development of local and national women’s movement”. Carefully examine the statement this answers all of the above mentioned three questions such as:
Purpose: promote and protect human rights of women
Business: Advocate for women and girls access to social, economic and legal services
Values: Professionalism and volunteerism
Q4: Please describe the main activities of your group in two to three paragraphs, and explain how these activities relate to advancing women’s human rights.
In this section, you have to describe your main activities which relate to advancing women rights in two or three paragraphs. This is your chance to demonstrate how important your work in your region is for the protection of women and girls’ rights.
Q5: Please describe three major accomplishments of your group since it began. Please be as specific as you can use examples.
