Section Q: Provide a monitoring and evaluation plan in 400 words or less. The applicant needs to describe how baseline data will be collected, and how the project will be documented, monitored, and evaluated.
Example 1: The ABC Organization will use the following methods to evaluate project outcomes:
Five Safe Spaces:
- The number of people who use each of the five safe spaces will be recorded during the first month of operation, and then again 12 months later. Data will be compared to determine level of overall usage, as well as between sites.
- Usage statistics will be recorded for each workshop, event, activity, etc. at each safe space location, and will be compared among the sites.
- Responses to surveys completed by parents and students that use the spaces over the first 12 months will be analyzed. Reasonable recommendations will be considered for implementation to improve services.
School Policy Development and Implementation:
- This portion of the project will be documented, monitored, and evaluated in the following ways:
- Meeting agendas and minutes will be recorded and shared online
- Draft policies will be shared online for feedback by educators and parents
- The number of violence incidents will be recorded at the start of the project and monthly throughout the 3 years of the project. Data will be analyzed for any trends and interventions will occur if needed.
- Surveys of teachers, educational administrators, and parents will take place at the start of the project and each year thereafter to determine any changes in attitude or behavior.
Legislative Advocacy:
- Agendas and meeting minutes of committees will be recorded and shared online.
- Draft laws will be shared online for the community to provide feedback.
- Legislator voting will be recorded.
- Voting by the public is anticipated to be positive resulting in the passage of the laws.
Heightening Awareness of the Issue:
- The number of media toolkits distributed will be recorded throughout the project.
- The number of media inquiries will be recorded.
- Stories in various media (e.g., online, in print, on TV, etc.) will be counted to determine how wide spread the issue is being distributed and shared.
Example 2: The XYZ foundation has identified the following methods to collect, document, monitor, and evaluate the project including:
- Policy Development and Implementation: At each company participating in the project, the following will occur:
- Meeting agendas and minutes will be recorded and posted online.
- Draft documents will also be prepared and posted online for managerial and worker feedback.
- The number of sexual harassment and workplace violence issues will be taken at the start of the project and every month thereafter to determine if any trends are occurring. Actions will be implemented, if necessary, to address any negative trends that appear.
- Workers and management will be surveyed before and after the implementation of policies and procedures to determine level of any change in attitude and behavior.
- Focus groups of managers and employees will occur several times throughout the project to determine any changes in the workplace environment that has occurred as a result of implementing new policies and procedures.
- Data and other relevant information will be compared between companies to determine levels of acceptance and changes in workplace behaviors on the part of workers and managers.
- The number of companies that outsource garment work to India-based factories that have sexual harassment and workplace violence policies and procedures will be counted.
- Legislative Advocacy:
- Meeting agendas, minutes, and reports of committees will be posted online.
- Progress towards making garment factories in the country legally required to implement workplace violence and sexual harassment policies and procedures will be monitored.
- Formal clarification on local and national governance clarifying workplace violence/sexual harassment laws as well as ensuring that women can make a claim of these actions without retribution will be monitored.
- The number of sexual harassment and violence in the workplace claims will be recorded throughout the project to determine any trends.
- The number of those convicted of acts of sexual harassment and violence in the workplace will also be recorded.
