Tropical Health & Education Trust (THET) invites health partnership community to apply for additional health partnership project grants to conduct projects strengthening the capacity of the developing country’s health services. This is the call under Health Partnership Scheme (HPS) and the main purpose of the partnership is to improve health outcomes through skill transfer, capacity development and other collaborative work. All established health partnerships can respond to the call with applications.
Grants are available for periods of between six and 20 months. They can begin from 1 September 2015 onwards, all activity must be complete by 30 April 2017. There are two tiers of funding available, and partnerships are invited to apply for the tier of funding most appropriate to their project:
- Category A – £10,000 – £99,999
- Category B – £100,000 – £200,000
The grant will fund: Training and workshop costs; travel and associated costs; activity communications costs; publications and the development of webpages; equipment up to a maximum of 20% of the total budget, including both medical and office equipment; bank charges for transfer of funds; reasonable project management costs; consultancy costs up to 5% of the total budget; contingency up to 1.5% of the total budget; and monitoring and evaluation costs.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applications must be made by established Health Partnerships; projects must be operating within low- or middle-income countries.
- Applicant must be eligible UK and low-income country health institution.
- UK institution must be formally recognized as a health, education, regulatory or healthcare delivery institution to be eligible for the grant.
- NGOs are not eligible as overseas partner institutions unless they are an overseas not-for-profit clinic or hospital.
- UK partners (and not an NGO) will be responsible for signing the grant contract and overall delivery and reporting of the project.
- Letters of support from each institution must be submitted along with the application.
