The Federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is seeking applications for its Viral Hepatitis program comprised of two categories:
A: Viral Hepatitis Prevention
B: Viral Hepatitis Surveillance
Category A –Viral Hepatitis Prevention
The Viral Hepatitis Prevention program is intended to improve the coordination of viral hepatitis prevention at the state/local level by continuing the support provided to the 52 Viral Hepatitis Prevention Coordinators (VHPCs) that were previously funded at state/local health departments and to ensure that VHPCs receive ongoing technical assistance, training, and other types of support through a single Technical Assistance Center.
Category B – Viral Hepatitis Surveillance
CDC intends to continuously support the funded seven cooperative agreements to eligible jurisdictions that were previously funded to conduct active, enhanced surveillance for viral hepatitis and collection of more extensive and complete information and is focusing towards enhanced, active surveillance for chronic hepatitis B and past or current hepatitis C as defined by the Council for State and Territorial Epidemiologists (CSTE) to support case investigation and the de-duplication, confirmation, and collation of laboratory and clinical reports of hepatitis B virus (HBV) and hepatitis C virus (HCV) infections from laboratories and care settings.
Award Information
- The size of the award is $90,000 approximately.
- The award may range from $20,000 to $500,000.
- The approximate numbers of awards are:
- CATEGORY A – Viral Hepatitis Prevention-53 awards.
- CATEGORY B – Viral Hepatitis Surveillance 7 awards.
Eligibility Criteria
State governments, county governments, city or township governments, special district governments, independent school districts, public and state controlled institutions of higher education, native American tribal governments (Federally recognized), public housing authorities/Indian housing authorities, native American tribal organizations (other than Federally recognized tribal governments),nonprofits having a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education, nonprofits without 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education, private institutions of higher education, for profit organizations other than small businesses, small businesses are eligible to apply for the program.
