The United States Agency for International Development in Mali is seeking applications for a cooperative agreement from all qualified organizations to fund an activity called “Civic Engagement in Mali” with an aim to improve public accountability in Mali by increasing and strengthening citizens’ role in the process.
Funding Information
- Subject to funding availability, USAID intends to provide $12,000,000 in total USAID funding over a five year period. Actual funding amounts are subject to availability of funds.
- USAID intends to award one Cooperative Agreement pursuant to this request for application.
Objectives
- strengthening mechanisms of bottom-up social accountability,
- CSO effectiveness to provide government oversight and aggregate citizen interest increased;
- Citizen ability to demand improved services, especially health services, through CSO advocacy strengthened;
- Citizens, particularly marginalized groups, have improved access to and oversight of government.
- strengthening Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) partnerships with the government and the private sector to develop public policy and advance issues of common interest,
- links between CSOs, government, the private sector and the media strengthened; and
- conflict management mechanisms strengthened.
- strengthen citizens’ understanding of their rights and responsibilities, and empower them to engage with government actors.
- Citizen understanding of rights and responsibilities increased; and
- Citizen ability to engage government and solve problems through participatory democratic processes improved.
Eligibility Criteria
USAID policy encourages competition in the award of grants and cooperative agreements. In response to this NFO, any U.S. or international organization, private voluntary organization, non-profit, or for profit entity (willing to forego profit) is eligible to apply.
