School of Advance Research (SAR) sponsor by Vera R. Campbell Foundation is currently inviting applications from women scholars in any nation to apply for its Campbell Fellowships 2016 on transformative research on women in the developing world.
One six- or nine-month residential fellowship is available for a female doctoral level scholar whose research both documents the circumstances of women in the developing world and offers paths to concrete, practical strategies for improving their health, prosperity, and general well-being.
What Fellowships Cover?
Fellows receive a $4,500 per month stipend in addition to housing and office space on the SAR campus.
Thematic Areas
- Education and socialization of girls
- Women’s roles in government
- Reproduction and women’s health
- Impacts of international and civil conflict on women;
- Women’s roles in resolving conflicts or sustaining civil society;
- the practice and process of gender-based development;
- women in science and technology.
Eligibility Criteria
- Women scholars from any nation are eligible to apply, SAR particularly welcomes and encourages applications from scholars in developing countries.
- Applicants can completed a doctorate in anthropology, economics, geography, history, law, political science, psychology, sociology, or in an interdisciplinary field that incorporates two or more of these disciplines.
How to Apply
Applicants must create an account on the online application system before materials can be uploaded for submission. All applications must include:
- An abstract, not to exceed 150 words, describing the purpose and goals of the project.
- A proposal, no more than four double-spaced pages in length, describing the research project, key questions to be addressed, methodologies, and significance. The proposal should also explain what is to be accomplished during the fellowship year and the status of the applicant’s research on the topic.
- A short bibliography, not to exceed one single-spaced page, of references cited in the proposal.
- A curriculum vitae, not to exceed four single-spaced pages.
- Three letters of recommendation, not to exceed two pages in length each.
