European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR) is seeking proposals for Country based support schemes (CBSS) in Kazakhstan to enhance the respect for human rights. The objective of this program is to make systematic access of civil society and interested citizens to information and training on nationally and globally recognized political, civil, social and cultural human rights, and the contribution of civil society to the drafting and implementation of the second National Human Rights Action Plan.
Objectives-
- Awareness raising, in particular of young people, on: (a) human rights issues in general and national human rights issues in particular; (b) media, education and other spheres, about human rights and their relevance for the country and the citizens.
- Capacity building of civil society, in particular in the regions: (a) to analyze and report on relevant human rights issues through informational and analytical support and through different kinds of training, including e.g. training of trainers; (b) in implementing joint activities such as consultations with relevant authorities, advocacy, and if necessary targeted ad-hoc support in situations where the respect for human rights are at risk; (c) to ensure constructive support and follow up to Kazakhstan’s membership in the UN Human Rights Council.
- Promote the freedom of expression and the role of independent media, through an increased knowledge and information of the population, in particular of multiplicators, on general and specific human rights, including electronic ways of information, publication, dissemination and training actions.
- Enhance the contribution of civil society to the drafting and implementation of Kazakhstan’s upcoming Second National Human Rights Action Plan.
The overall indicative amount made available under this Call for Proposals is € 600 000. The initial planned duration of an action may not be lower than 24 months nor exceed 30 months.
Eligibility & Criteria-
- be legal persons
- be non-profit-making
- be specific types of organisations such as: non-governmental organisations, public sector operators, local authorities, international (inter-governmental) organisations
- be established in a Member State of the European Union or in the Republic of Kazakhstan
- be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the action with the co-applicant(s) and affiliated entity(ies), not acting as an intermediary
