The U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor (DRL) have announced an open competition for organizations interested in submitting applications for one project that will enable and protect civil society by providing emergency assistance to civil society organizations (CSOs) under threat and small advocacy grants for work on the freedoms of association and assembly (FOAA).
Areas of Interest
Illustrative indicators of the project include:
- The percentage of CSOs receiving emergency assistance that resume operation after assistance is provided;
- The percentage of CSOs receiving emergency assistance that report that assistance improved their safety or removed the threat they faced;
- The number of CSOs reporting the adoption of improved strategies as a result of supported advocacy initiatives; and
- The number of responses by decision makers and important stakeholders as a result of supported advocacy initiatives.
Funding Information
DRL anticipates having approximately $1,980,198 available to support one successful application submitted in response to the programme.
Eligibility Criteria
- U.S.-based and foreign-based non-profit organizations/nongovernment organizations (NGO) and public international organizations are eligible to apply.
- Private, public, or state institutions of higher education; and for-profit organizations or businesses are also eligible to apply for the programme.
