The International Finance Corporation (IFC) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Communications Officer, based in Hong Kong, China.
IFC, the private sector arm of the World Bank Group, is a global investor and advisor committed to promoting projects in its developing member countries that are economically beneficial, financially and commercially sound, and environmentally and socially sustainable.
Key Job Responsibilities
The Communications Officer will perform the following functions-
- Thought Leadership and Brand Building – Plan, design and execute a communications strategy and activities to promote IFC’s role and impact in the region. This will include building and managing strategic relationships and outreach with key industry, government, development and civil society groups and positioning IFC’s corporate and regional leadership as spokespersons and thought leaders in the private sector development space.
- Business Development – Use a variety of tools, techniques, and resources to support business development and to strengthen IFC’s brand, including press releases, media pitching, website development, social media, promotional materials and business conferences.
- Public Affairs – Work closely with project teams, WBG corporate communications and IFC clients to identify and mitigate reputational risks, enhance stakeholder engagement efforts, and clearly communicate the long term development impact and IFC’s value-add in high profile projects.
- Media Relations – Cultivate relationships with key journalists, secure press coverage for IFC initiatives and provide media coaching to staff. Promote IFC externally in Asia Pacific, increasing value by raising awareness of brand and development impact, through innovative use of social media, traditional media, conferences, and speeches.
- Internal Communications and Staff Engagement – Manage internal staff outreach by EAP Director and leadership and EAP internal communications initiatives.
- World Bank Group Coordination – Work closely with communications staff across IFC and World Bank to contribute to the World Bank Group’s larger communication objectives.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Masters degree and 8+ years work experience in public relations, public affairs, media relations, journalism; previous experience with a private sector company or multilateral financial institution a plus.
- Proven ability to conceptualize, design and implement major campaigns, strategies or programs.
- Regional knowledge networks and experience.
- In-depth knowledge of national/international trends, demonstrated political awareness and ability to diplomatically handle sensitive situations with target audiences and to otherwise cultivate effective, productive client relationships/ partnerships.
- Self-motivated, creative, excellent organizational skills, proven ability to perform multiple tasks, and ability to work with both internal and external constituencies.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a willingness to work in a team environment. Proven experience in working as both a leader and a member of a team.
- Excellent English writing and editing skills. Knowledge of another regional language also desirable.
- Exceptional ability to write, communicate, operate under pressure and tight deadlines with accuracy and professionalism.
