The ADD International is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Director of Finance and Operations based in Frome, Somerset.
Director of Finance and Operations leads the planning, management, control of and accounting for ADD International’s finance and operations functions, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.

Key Job Responsibilities
The Director of Finance and Operations will perform the following functions-
- Provide leadership in setting ADD’s annual budget and monitoring income expenditure against plans across the whole of ADD
- Manage the annual budget of the finance and operations department
- Manage restricted and unrestricted income
- Take responsibility for the overall financial performance of ADD International, from planning through to accounting
- Lead the setting, monitoring and control of the financial plan consistent with the strategic business plan
- Ensure the relationship between expenditure and programme effectiveness, output and outcome is understood, and value for money secured from ADD International’s activities, working in collaboration with programme director(s)
- Implement systems and controls for the effective management of both unrestricted and restricted income, working in collaboration with the fundraising departments
- Provide financial advice to the CEO and SMT as required
- Provide financial support to the Country Directors
- Act as Company Secretary to ADD in all aspects of the role
- Attend trustee meetings as required and report on all financial matters
- Be the link with the treasurer/chair of the finance and audit sub-committee and co-ordinate meeting teleconferences as required
- Advise the trustees of compliance with all relevant legislation within your remit/area of competence including Company and Charity Law
- Manage the Finance Manager, Finance & Systems Manager, HR Manager, Resource Manager and Senior Finance Manager
- set up and manage contracts and relations with organisations providing outsourced services in the UK
- Be the SMT lead on IT, and to ensure all staff receive the IT support required to carry out their jobs working with the Director of International Development to ensure this happens outside the UK
- Be the SMT lead on HR – with the support of the HR Manager, to ensure HR policies and procedures are developed, maintained, disseminated and adhered to, both in the UK and within country offices
- Oversee the smooth running of the UK office administration
- Be responsible for all aspects of UK office accommodation and related infrastructure
- Support the Director of International Development in managing any fraud allegations in country programmes
- Be the overall link with ADD auditors
- Act as bank signatory and expenditure authorisation up to the limits agreed by the trustee finance and audit sub-committee
- Undertake such similar tasks as may be reasonably required by the line manager from time to time
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- CCAB fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA, or equivalent)
- Management qualification
- Experience of finance function in international development.
- Experience of management of restricted and unrestricted funds.
- Experience of working at senior management level with responsibility for delivering departmental objectives
- Experience of financial planning and monitoring across the whole of an organisation, or a significant part of a large organisation
- Experience of financial management in UK and in at least one developing country
- The lived experience of being a disabled person
- Experience of managing outsourced finance functions is highly desirable
- Experience of managing in-house or outsourced suppliers in other sectors (e.g. legal, HR, IT)
