United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Finance Officer in Kathmandu, Nepal. The duration for the post is of 3 months.
The Finance Officer will be responsible for effective delivery of financial services, transparent utilization of financial resources.
UNOPS mission is to serve people in need by expanding the ability of the United Nations, governments and other partners to manage projects, infrastructure and procurement in a sustainable and efficient manner.
Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Finance Officer will perform the following functions-
- Elaboration of proposals for planning of financial resources of the project financial requirements, continuous analysis and monitoring of the financial situation and presentation of forecasts for development and management projects; provision of high-quality professional advice to the Project Operations Coordinator and Regional Office or Operations Centre management if necessary.
- Proper planning, expenditure tracking and audit of financial resources, in accordance with UNOPS financial rules and regulations.
- Organization and oversight of Project cash management, including liquidity management, recommendation of cash level, risk assessment, bank relationship management, timely accounting and reconciliation of all transactions and security for cash assets on site.
- Timely preparation of bank account reconciliation and clearance of outstanding items. Monitoring of financial exception reports for unusual activities, transactions and investigation of anomalies or unusual transactions. Provision of information to supervisors and other UNOPS staff at RO and HQ on the results of the investigation when satisfactory answers are not obtained.
- Identification of problems in financial and administrative areas, suggesting alternative solutions to resolve issues in compliance with broader UNOPS policies, rules and procedures.
- Responsible of the implementation of the UNOPS IPSAS adoption strategy.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- A Bachelor’s Degree with 2 years of relevant professional experience.
- Job-related experience in administration or finance with greater independence and decision-making authority for more complex budgets is an advantage; or.
- Secondary School Education with minimum of 6 years of relevant professional experience.
- Supervisory experience is considered and asset.
- Experience with an international organization providing financial management services and/or managing staff and operational system will be an asset.
- Mastery of Microsoft Office, in particular Excel, is required.
- Knowledge of ERP systems is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of UN project implementation procedures and Financial Rules and Regulations an advantage.
- Fluency in written and oral English and Nepali.
