Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Senior Financial Operations Manager in New York, United States.
The Senior Financial Operations Manager will work closely with and reporting directly to the Controller, will be tasked with design, development and implementation of all accounting activities as they relate to accounts payable, contribution revenue and support, and payroll.

Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Senior Financial Operations Manager will perform the following functions-
- Direct and oversee management of the finance operations staff including accounts payable, payroll and gift processing.
- Oversee payment of invoices, expense reports, consultants and grants:
- Develop, maintain and enforce written policy and procedures in relation to accounts payable/cash disbursements.
- Provide strategic input to programs and team members to understand disbursements in foreign currency.
- Administer EDF’s credit card program.
- Ensure employees are adhering to the expense reimbursement policies.
- Manage all intercompany relationships for accuracy and proper settlement.
- Work with Compliance to identify and properly record lobbying expenses.
- Oversee the quality controls in relation to gift processing:
- Develop, maintain and enforce written policy and procedures in relation to contributions received.
- Ensure general ledger account coding of gifts received is accurate; restricted (for time/purpose) and unrestricted and in accordance with GAAP.
- Provide strategic input to team members to understand gifts received in foreign currency.
- Manage relationship with third party gift processors.
- Develop and control all tasks necessary to accomplish the organization’s payroll processing objectives:
- Oversee payroll tax processing.
- Generate payroll reports for management.
- Monitor and develop solutions to issues that arise in daily accounting activities.
- Be instrumental in researching, identifying and implementing a new invoice/expense system capable of handling multicurrency.
- Develop cash management model, implement, and actively manage cash needed for operations including foreign currency exposure and needs.
- Complete month end closing tasks for all areas under supervision per the communicated closing timeline.
- Drive business processes to improve efficiency and meet organization goals.
- Cross-train staff to maintain adequate coverage.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or financial management preferred, MBA a plus.
- 10+ years of accounting/finance experience with 3-5 years in a similar or related position as lead of the accounting operations.
- Demonstrated experience with managing foreign currency as it relates to cash receipts and payments and how it consolidates into the financials.
- Extensive experience with team leadership and resource management.
- Strong ability to problem solves and works independently.
- Ability to handle and prioritize multiple time-sensitive projects with a firm commitment to meeting deadlines.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively to internal and external customers.
- Experience working with senior management.
