United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Deputy Project Manager in Mogadishu, Somalia. The duration of this post is 1 year.
The Deputy Project Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day operations & as OIC in the absence of the Project Manager.

Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Deputy Project Manager will perform the following functions-
- Focal point for all IEDD matters between UNMAS HQ, AMISOM, UNSOS, specific programmes and other key stakeholders in country.
- Ensure that the UN and AU Mission is kept abreast of changes to the IED context, mitigation measures planned or in place, and other key areas relevant for the safety, security and freedom of movement of AMISOM and the delivery of the mission mandate.
- Monitor and report, at the strategic technical level, on the delivery of UNMAS IEDD support to AMISOM.
- Review National technical standards and guidelines in relation to IEDD.
- Development and implementation of local technical solutions to IED threats, identifying shortfalls, and time frames for prevention and mitigation measures.
- Coordination of the establishment of a detailed IEDD information database and development of tasking and reporting procedures.
- Continually access and analyze the operational context for areas of improvement in efficiency, effectiveness and safety within the local IEDD threat.
- Identify continuous improvements and lessons learned.
- Identify risks and plan risk mitigation strategies and report on the progress of deployment activities.
- Implement any other tasks requested by the UNMAS Project Manager.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- An Advanced University degree (Master’s or equivalent) in combination with additional 5 years in Project Management, Business Administration, Public Administration or related field.
- A first-level university degree (Bachelor’s or equivalent) in combination with additional 7 years of required qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
- High School Diploma with Military experience (or relevant Police experience) at the Staff Officer Level in combination with additional 11 years qualifying experience may also be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
- 5 years experience as a field Manager.
- 5 years experience as a senior technical Advisor /Project Manager.
- At least 2 Years UN experience.
- Fluency in written and oral English.
- Working knowledge of French is desirable.
