Asian Development Bank (ADB) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Director in Manila, Philippines. The duration for the post is of 3 years.
The Director will be responsible for oversee the quality of evaluation work in the division and ensure the achievement of both division and department-wide objectives.
The ADB aims for an Asia and Pacific free from poverty.
Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Director will perform the following functions-
- Participate actively in the department’s leadership team, chaired by the Director General, IED.
- Lead, establish and cascade the division’s vision, goals, development strategies and key result areas in support of ADB’s goals, departmental goals and in compliance with ADB policies and IED’s mandate.
- Lead and identify key priority areas of the division, and lead evaluation policy, taking into account the division’s current focal areas of transport, energy, finance and private sector operations.
- Lead the planning, implementation and supervision of work plans as well as ensure the quality of outputs and the achievement of long term goals and annual objectives for the division.
- Provide leadership in professional and operational matters, contributing new or innovative approaches to policy and operational issues and their independent evaluation.
- Ensure the adherence to evaluation principles of independence, impartiality, and integrity in assessing the development effectiveness and impacts of ADB support at project, sector and country levels.
- Create and lead multidisciplinary teams and ensure the overall quality of their work in an effective and efficient manner.
- Manage the performance of teams and individuals providing clear direction and regular monitoring and feedback on performance.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to team and individuals and ensure their on-going learning and development.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Master’s Degree, or equivalent, in Economics or related discipline of relevance to the current focal areas of IED2, notably transports energy, finance sector and private sector operations.
- University degree in Economics or related discipline combined with specialized experience in similar organization/s, may be considered in lieu of a Master’s degree
- Suitability to undertake the responsibilities mentioned above at the required level.
- At least 15 years of relevant professional experience in the operational, economic, social, and technical aspects of developing economics and/or project preparation, appraisal, management, administration and evaluation in the key sectors and themes in ADB’s countries of operation.
- Demonstrated expertise and sector knowledge in one or more of the following areas: infrastructure, finance, private sector development, non-sovereign operations, and regional cooperation and related country and sub-regional level assistance strategy and program evaluation.
- Sound knowledge of policies of ADB or similar multilateral development organizations and exposure to some of its major strategic policy issues.
- Ability to lead and manage a team of professional staff, national officers, and administrative staff.
- Ability to deal effectively with staff, Management, Board members, senior government officials, non-government and civil society organizations, and other external stakeholders.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
- International working experience in development in several countries.
