United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Human Resources Officer (Classification) in New York, United States.
The Human Resources Officer will provide guidance to offices on procedures pertaining to job classification and will also support the continuing progress of the initiative to streamline job classification and organization design.
UNICEF supports child health and nutrition, good water and sanitation, quality basic education for all boys and girls, and the protection of children from violence, exploitation, and AIDS.
Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Human Resources Officer will perform the following functions-
- Assist the classification of UNICEF posts worldwide through the application of ICSC New Master Standards.
- Makes recommendations on grades and titles to supervisor.
- Provides guidance to UNICEF offices on the classification process in terms of timeline as well as correct use of documents.
- Provides technical input on job description writing.
- Provides guidance on process of classification data entry in vision.
- In consultation with supervisor, provides recommendations to clients on appropriate grades for newly established positions.
- Collaborates with HR focal points on bottlenecks to the process and provides solutions with regards to moving forward.
- In consultation with supervisor, liaises and collaborates with technical focal points over the writing and finalization of generic job profiles.
- Makes recommendations to supervisor on ways of improving the classification and related processes.
- Drafts presentations pertaining to classification.
- Compiles data reports on classification.
- Gathers feedback on new procedures for review with supervisor.
- Drafts communication to HR community on updates on the initiative.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- A first-level university degree (Bachelor’s) in Human Resources Management, Business Administration or a directly-related technical field(s) is a minimum requirement.
- A minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience in Human Resources Management with prior hands-on experience in job classification is required.
- Previous experience within the UN system or international organization is highly desirable.
- Fluency in English (written & verbal) is required. Knowledge of an additional UN Language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) is considered an asset.
