United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Knowledge Management Specialist in New York, United States.
The Knowledge Management Specialist will be responsible for managing the Evaluation Office’s Knowledge Management activities, especially the Evaluation and Research Data Base.
UNICEF supports child health and nutrition, good water and sanitation, quality basic education for all boys and girls, and the protection of children from violence, exploitation, and AIDS.
Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Knowledge Management Specialist will perform the following functions-
- Manage UNICEF’s Evaluation and Research Data Base (ERD); and the Management Response Tracking System (EMR).
- Produce the quarterly evaluation dashboards for dissemination to the Global Evaluation Committee and to Regional Directors.
- Coordinate the integration of information generated by several components of the systemic strengthening.
- Support the Senior Evaluation Specialist Systemic Strengthening in the overall management of the GEROS system.
- In close coordination with IT Solutions and Services (ITSS) identify and implement software solutions to promote ease of use, and to support the use of ERD and EMR contents in lessons learned exercises and other analyses.
- Manage the content development and outreach efforts of Evaluation section on UNICEF Intranet and Internet.
- To include monitoring of evaluation use and user satisfaction, and making recommendations for improving relevance and user-friendliness.
- Oversee the development of new content through means including direct creation, supervision of contractors, and linkage with the Community of Practice (COP) to solicit inputs.
- Develop and maintain relevant guidance on evaluation knowledge management, dissemination and use of evaluation results.
- Ensure harmonization of knowledge management work in the Evaluation Office, in liaison with UNICEF offices concerned with knowledge management and communication.
- Manage UNICEF’s evaluation ‘Communities of Practice’ system in Yammer and in Sharepoint. In particular, manage special events such as web training seminars, and to ensure that all queries posted in the COP are tracked and an answer received.
- Produce an ongoing series of UNICEF Evaluation Newsletters, modelled on good practices learned from other UNICEF units and external organizations.
- Produce knowledge products tailored to the needs of Country Offices (COs) and Regional Offices (ROs).
- Directly create and also commission content, and target both internal and external audiences and to ensure wide distribution on a regular basis.
- In particular, to support production of Evaluation Briefs for evaluation reports produced by the Evaluation Office.
- Contribute to the effective participation of the Evaluation Office in the UNEG related initiatives such as the Evaluation Practice Exchange (EPE).
- Make special efforts with other UN and other development organizations to promote sharing of materials and efficient joint efforts to produce relevant content.
- Perform other duties as may be required for the successful functioning of the Evaluation Office.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Advanced university degree (Master’s) in Education, Knowledge Management, and Development Studies, Social-economic research, Social Sciences or a directly-related technical field is required.
- A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience, at the national and international levels, in knowledge management, evaluation, and planning and/or public administration is required.
- Prior experience working in the UN System or other international development organization is considered an asset.
- Familiarity in creating, handling and dissemination/promotion of information, research/analyses, and data from a wide range of sources is considered an asset.
- Prior knowledge of UNICEF’s programming cycle, development and transition contexts is considered an asset.
- Fluency in English (written & verbal) is required. Knowledge of an additional UN Language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish) is considered an asset.
