The American Leprosy Mission (ALM) is currently accepting applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Regional Director, based in Nepal.
The Regional Director for Asia will help American Leprosy Missions (ALM) realize the vision of a world without leprosy by leading the implementation of its five-year strategic plan in Asia. This includes developing strong implementing coalitions and partners, guiding the development of major programs and related grants, improving and adjusting the strategy as necessary and building an effective regional team to ensure key priorities are accomplished.

Key Job Responsibilities
The Regional Director will perform the following functions-
- Provide leadership in the development and implementation of the ALM regional strategy in line with the overall Strategic Plan
- Keep abreast of socio-economic and political changes in the region and review the ALM regional strategy for continued relevance
- Ensure ALM’s mission is accomplished effectively in each supported country and project
- Listen to and learn from local partners and other stakeholders to facilitate organizational learning and alignment with best practice
- Develop and recommend organizational policies as needed
- Represent ALM in the region, managing host country relations and ALM interests with government, international and local organizations, networks and media
- Represent ALM in strategic meetings, conferences, forums and other public events and contribute towards appropriately raising the profile of ALM
- Oversee and coordinate the regional program portfolio to ensure the highest level of project quality and accountability
- Lead the development and scaling of programs in the region through sound methodology and programmatic support
- Build capacity of local partners to develop and implement high-quality, innovative programs
- Lead the development, implementation and monitoring of appropriate research and advocacy initiatives
- Coordinate participatory planning and budgeting for all projects in the region
- Oversee the production and submission of timely, accurate program reports in line with ALM and donor requirements
- Coordinate requests for technical assistance from partner organizations
- Recruit credentialed program professionals for the regional team
- Develop working relationships with country-level and international donors, attending relevant working groups as necessary
- Provide technical input in order to create high-quality, innovative funding proposals, leading the proposal development process as necessary
- Ensure that effective grant management systems are in place and partners are adequately equipped to follow institutional donor guidelines and manage donor expectations
- Facilitate donor visits, meetings, round table discussions and evaluations as necessary
- Oversee the development and implementation of annual country budgets
- Organize external partner and project audits per ALM policy
- Ensure effective implementation of and reporting on funding in compliance with ALM’s finance manual and donor requirements
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Master’s degree in public health, international development or related field
- Terminal degree in public health, international development or a related field
- 8 or more years relevant professional experience in international development (project implementation, management or new business development in a developing country) with proven leadership ability
- Program experience in leprosy and/or other Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) or health interventions in marginalized communities
- Significant experience in theories of change, logical frameworks and other project design concepts
- Proven experience in leading successful acquisition and management of institutional funding
- Advanced writing skills in English
- Ability to travel internationally, up to 30% of total working days per year
- Proficient in the use of Google and Microsoft Office products, especially Excel
- Basic accounting and financial reporting experience and skills
- Ability and willingness to share the Christian faith through word and deed
- Technical expertise in infectious diseases, particularly leprosy and/or other NTDs
- Policy guidance experience at the national or regional level
- Published papers or research in recognized peer-reviewed journals regarding leprosy, public health or other NTDs
- Proficient in speaking and writing a second language such as Hindi or French
