The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Regional Coordinator based in Herat, Afghanistan for the duration of 1 year.
UNDP works in more than 170 countries and territories, helping to achieve the eradication of poverty, and the reduction of inequalities and exclusion.
Key Job Responsibilities
The Regional Coordinator will perform the following functions-
- Facilitate the implementation of LOTFA Annual Work Plans at the regional level
- Provide administrative and operational support to the project implementation at regional level
- Provide support and facilitate coordination between various project stakeholders
- Arrange and facilitate meetings between the civil society organizations, government partners, police, and international community in order to achieve effective coordination and implementation of the projects within the region
- Represent projects at the regional level
- Provide monitoring and evaluation of projects activities
- Provide support to the implementation of the project in the regions/provinces/districts
- Organize meetings with project stakeholders whenever required
- Participate in meetings with the Ministry of Interior, partners from the Government, UNDP/UN agencies, and international community and make presentations whenever required in both English, Dari/Pashtu.
- Provide weekly and monthly reports to Project Manager 1 and Project Manager 2
- Provide technical inputs in the preparation of training materials
- Oversee activities of implementing partners in the region
- Travel regularly to the provinces and districts where project activities are being implemented.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Master’s or bachelor’s degree in International Development, Law or Public Administration or a relevant discipline with an understanding of normative framework of democratic principles and human rights;
- Relevant experience of 2 years with Master’s Degree and 4 years with Bachelor’s Degree in national and international level;
- Experience of working with civil society and government institutions;
- Experience working with the Afghan National Police is desirable;
- Knowledge and expertise in making presentations;
- Knowledge and skill in undertaking capacity development
- Proven leadership and managerial skills;
- Strong written and oral communication skills in English, Dari and Pashtu;
- Ability to undertake translation of documents;
- Ability to coordinate different stakeholders in a complex work environment;
- Ability to work independently;
- Fluency in spoken and written English is required.
