World Food Programme (WFP) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Data Architect in Rome, Italy. The duration for the post is of 1 year.
The WFP is the world’s largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger worldwide.
Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Data Architect will perform the following functions-
- Own the data architecture and governance of core data platforms, to facilitate Master Data Management, meta-data management, data quality management, data integration, data distribution and reporting.
- Determine the data architecture considering existing data sources, needs for data integration and requirements for data distribution for WFP data domains.
- Coordinate with Data Governance Sub-Committee to establish data quality baselines and resolve data issues.
- Influence change and enforce data best practices, standards, and governance.
- Identify data requirements and related KPIs and metrics for availability, integrity and confidentiality.
- Analyze data architecture and integration solutions for improvement opportunities and challenges.
- Conduct data model reviews with project team members.
- Participate in information meta-data strategy definition.
- Partner with business units, vendors and internal IT to maintain the data
- Collaborate with relevant business partners and functional heads to ensure alignment with tactical and strategic goals.
- Maintain expertise and proficiency in the various application areas.
- Provide expertise and leadership on making technical decisions, mentoring junior team members, and focusing on delivering an architecture that provides business value.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Advanced university degree in Computer Science, Engineering or other relevant field, or First University degree with additional two years of related work.
- A minimum of eight years or more of postgraduate progressively responsible professional experience inclusive of at least three years experience in a data architect role on a variety of large scale projects and five years in large scale data integration or data warehouse implementations.
- Experience in Enterprise Architecture, data modeling, reporting and Master Data Management.
- Experience managing an enterprise-wide environment with numerous users and dependent systems.
- Experience with meta-data management including business glossaries and
- Experience in a Big Data solution, Data Quality solution, Meta Data management would be preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to work with other architects, IT and functional heads.
- Excellent communication skills to explain technical designs to non-technical colleagues and knowledge transfer to developers.
- Knowledge of different databases and technologies beyond RDBMS – Columnar, JSON/XML, NoSQL, Hadoop, In-Memory.
- Broad knowledge of vendor capabilities in data management solutions – MDM, Data Federation, Big Data, Data Quality, Business Intelligence etc.
- Knowledge of data design practices (Star, 3NF, Anchor models).
- Maturity to participate in multiple complex programs at the same time in an agile
- Fluency in oral and written English with an intermediate knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) or Portuguese (one of WFP’s working languages).
