World Vision (WV) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Livelihood Specialist in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The duration for the post is of 1 year.
The Livelihoods Specialist will responsible for providing leadership in developing the technical aspects of the United States Department of Labor (USDOL) project related to sustainable livelihoods interventions, in collaboration with the Project Director.

Key Jobs Responsibility
The Livelihood Specialist will perform the following functions-
- Develop and implement a livelihood strategy to enhance the livelihood security of poor and marginalized households in the targeted regions.
- Coordinates the development of the implementation plans of the project with Livelihood Managers of partner agencies and offer Management and administrative support to Project Education Managers.
- Establishes partnership with relevant livelihood, marketing and microfinance agencies to effectively support the design, implementation and sustainability of the livelihood projects.
- Facilitates capacity building of Livelihood Managers and project Facilitators (field officers) to effectively implement, and sustain livelihood projects with target children and families in project communities and be accountable for their performance.
- Provides technical assistance to Livelihood Managers in the area of interventions and networking for resource sharing in the implementation of livelihood projects.
- In coordination with the Education Specialist, develops integrated approach to the development of life skills of youth to enhance their productive skills and equip them to diversify their livelihood activities.
- In coordination with Monitoring and Evaluation Officer and Livelihood Managers, develops monitoring plans and strategies for effective and efficient monitoring and reporting of the progress and results of the livelihood activities.
- Coordinates and plans periodic reviews and evaluation of the livelihood activities with relevant stakeholders; identifies and recommends appropriate responses/actions on recommendations arising from the review and/or evaluation.
- Participates in the development of periodic or annual reviews and work plans as scheduled by the Project Director.
- Provides support and daily oversight of subcontract livelihood related activities.
- Submits technical reports and provides technical assistance to the Project Director in the preparation of the report.
- Ensure that child protection standards and Core values are adhered to and they are adequately integrated in INVEST/WEKEZA project.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Master’s in agricultural economics, social sciences or other relevant field.
- Minimum three years of experience in a leadership position responsible for livelihood interventions and the technical aspects related to the proposed strategy, including skills training, micro-lending, micro-savings, employment generation, alternative/additional income generation, youth employment and social protection.
- Experience in projects promoting livelihood interventions.
- Understanding of child labour issues, including youth employment.
- Experience working successful with government agencies and private organizations engaged in promoting improved livelihoods for households and the provision of social protection services.
- Experience working with employers’ organizations, trade unions or other civil society organizations.
- Experience working with vulnerable youth and their families, preferably in Tanzania.
- Excellent communication skills, both in oral and written forms.
- Can operate Microsoft software applications such as Word, Excel and Power Point.
- Fluency in English required.
- Knowledge of relevant national language (Kiswahili) preferred.
