FHI 360 is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Project Manager, LINKAGES in Gaborone, Botswana.
The primary responsibility of the Project Manager is to ensure successful implementation of the LINKAGES work plan and achievement of the project’s targets and goals.

Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Project Manager, LINKAGES will perform the following functions-
- Manages, implements, and monitors systems, services, staff and budgets to achieve financial, administrative and programmatic goals.
- Responsible for the implementation and oversight of technical activities in the LINKAGES work plan.
- Supervises and provide technical guidance and mentorship to the LINKAGES team on technical assistance and project implementation.
- Provides technical and programmatic expertise in HIV prevention, care and treatment activities for female sex workers, men who have sex with men, and transgender individuals including community-based outreach, peer education, drop-in centers, mobile outreach, health clinic, hospital, and private facility service provision, ICT, referrals systems for HIV, STI, GBV, PMTCT and FP services.
- Oversees the development and monitoring of local organization sub awards in compliance with USG, PEPFAR and FHI 360 rules and regulations.
- Works collaboratively with the entire LINKAGES team in Botswana and ensures strong coordination among team partners on the implementation of technical activities.
- Ensures project achieves high quality results in accordance with the targets identified in the work plan and Performance Monitoring Plan. Ensure program quality according to FHI 360 standards including quality assurance and quality improvement initiatives.
- Overseas production of timely and accurate technical and financial reports to FHI 360 and USAID as required.
- Coordinates and meets with, as appropriate, USAID, the Ministry of Health, and local and international partners and other stakeholders in Botswana. Serve as the LINKAGES point person for interactions with USAID/Botswana, implementing partners, and the Government of Botswana and MOH.
- Identifies structural barriers to the uptake of HIV clinical services for key population groups and ways to address those structural barriers working with civil society, private businesses and government.
- Monitors work plan activities; ensures appropriate levels of technical assistance in program operations; coordinates partner efforts in program implementation including assisting in the provision of technical assistance to each grant partner for the provision of high quality services; ensure appropriate program monitoring and reporting.
- Works closely with FHI 360 staff in the ESABU Regional office, Washington DC and Durham, North Carolina to provide regular updates and coordinate with the global LINKAGES project.
- Leads the development of Scopes of Work, memorandums of understanding (MOUs), technical management of activities for consultants and local institutions partnering with LINKAGES to ensure that activity timeframes and budgets are met and products are reviewed and finalized.
- Coordinates with the LINKAGES headquarters teams for planning and management of LINKAGES technical assistance activities, including workshops, trainings, site visits, and other activities.
- Reports regularly to LINKAGES/HQ (Project Director, LINKAGES) and to USAID/LINKAGES on progress and status of LINKAGES activities in Botswana.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Masters level degree in Public Health (preferred) or related field or equivalent.
- At least 7 – 9 years of demonstrated key population group technical expertise, with substantial HIV prevention, care, and treatment experience with female sex workers, and/or men who have sex with men, and transgender individuals.
- At least 8 years of demonstrated excellence in a senior level technical advisor and leadership position, preferably in an international development context and working with key population groups.
- Excellent oral and written communication in English.
- Previous experience in Sub-Saharan Africa is strongly preferred; Botswana experience is a plus.
- Proven skills in the implementation of HIV prevention, care, and treatment projects for female sex workers, and/or men who have sex with men, and transgender persons in Botswana or other countries in the region.
- Knowledge of processes for developing and implementing HIV prevention, care, and treatment programs with key population groups in Botswana.
- Understands the HIV-related needs of key population groups in Botswana, including female sex workers, men who have sex with men and transgender individuals and has worked to support and implement activities to reduce stigma and discrimination.
- Design, implementation, and management of HIV public health/international development programs funded by USAID.
- Proven skills and experience in mentoring, leadership and networking, identifying, designing and brokering public-private partnerships.
- Sensitivity to cultural differences and understanding of the political and ethical issues surrounding public health issues among key populations in Botswana.
- Ability to manage and complete numerous tasks with a high degree of organization and limited resources, meet deadlines with strong attention to consistency, detail, and quality.
- Experience working with civil society organizations to plan and implement HIV and/or health-related activities.
- Experience of proactively identifying risk, addressing issues and appropriately communicating these to the project staff and USAID.
- Experience of establishing strong working relationships with colleagues from different organizations and cultures.
- Ability to travel within country or region and internationally if needed.
