World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Application Software Implementer in Geneva, Switzerland. The duration for the post is of 4 months.
The main role of Application Software Implementer is to interpret business requirements emanating from the Registries, to analyze, propose and subsequently develop, or oversee external development of, technical solutions designed to meet those requirements.

Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Application Software Implementer will perform the following functions-
- Design large and/or complex software application programs and application software program modifications from supplied specifications using agreed standards and tools to achieve a well-engineered result.
- Develop enhancements for registrations system with particular emphasis on changes required for the accession of the new countries.
- Create, amend and keep track of application software programs in accordance with the design; plan, design and conduct tests of application software programs; correct errors and re-test to achieve an error-free result.
- Conduct reviews of supplied specifications of requirements, with others as necessary.
- Take part in reviews of own work and lead reviews of colleagues’/external contractors’ work.
- Provide guidance and assistance to colleagues in any aspect of program design, creation, testing and documentation.
- Take part in evaluations and reviews of application software programming methods, tools and standards.
- Keep informed of developing technologies and their application and take some responsibility for personal development.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- First-level university degree in information technology, computer science or a related field.
- Certification in Adabas/Natural, UNIX, System architecture, and or Prince2.
- At least six years relevant professional experience, including in systems analysis and design tools and methods, ergonomic methodology or vendor management.
- Experience in Java, Web-based technologies and database environments including Oracle, MySQL or similar products.
- Experience in Natural programming language and database environments including Adabas or similar products.
- Practical experience in XML technologies.
- Ability to select appropriately from applicable ICT standards, methods, tools and applications.
- Ability to apply an analytical and systematic approach to problem solving.
- Ability to plan, schedule and monitor work and meet time and quality targets.
- Ability to present complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to rapidly absorb new technical information and apply it effectively.
- Competent user of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), the internet, internet applications and tools used to validate XML and HTML.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to maintain effective partnerships and working relations in a multi-cultural environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity.
- Knowledge of all or some of the following: business analysis, software development process improvement, problem management, release and deployment, system software, security administration, continuity management, emerging technology monitoring, enterprise and business architecture development.
- Excellent written and spoken knowledge of English.
- Knowledge of French and/or Spanish.
