United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of IT Officer in Budapest, Hungary.
The IT Officer will be responsible for providing business and ICT support and assist in the implantation of an office wide plan or the GSSC in Budapest, for information resource management, utilizing available resources, to maintain and provide efficient computerized information systems and services and to improve work effectiveness and productivity, consistent with the goals, objectives and strategies of the office and the organization.
UNICEF supports child health and nutrition, good water and sanitation, quality basic education for all boys and girls, and the protection of children from violence, exploitation, and AIDS.
Key Jobs Responsibilities
The IT Officer will perform the following functions-
- Mange the ICT Infrastructure such as Servers, Desktops, Laptops, Printers and other IT equipment, excluding LAN/WAN and network equipment in the GSSC office.
- Ensure all the equipment is protected against virus by installing the latest security software and monitoring it regularly (every day) for any breach and take appropriate action.
- Ensure backup of all server storage every day and store the same in safe and secured site outside the office as per the established guidelines.
- Provide effective support to all users in accordance with the established Service Level Agreement.
- Analyze and identify trends and root causes for incidents and problems; identify alternatives, test and recommend solutions.
- Address the issue of reducing the number of calls in terms of spares, training, guidelines, etc., based on the statistical analysis.
- Track and monitor incidents throughout their life-cycle, including verification and closure.
- Responsible for deployment of new ICT software and upgrade the software as necessary.
- Discard obsolete hardware through due UN process (Property Survey Board) after cleaning UNICEF data.
- Provide training on optimum use of messaging and collaboration systems, archiving etc.
- Through orientation, inform new staff on correct interpretation and application of GSSC ICT policies and guidelines.
- Guide to set staff goals, monitor progress and do performance evaluation.
- Provide input to supervisor on staff training needs.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- University degree in computer science, information systems, or other relevant disciplines, with specialized training or work experience in the fields broadly applicable to the job.
- Foundation level certificate in ITIL is required.
- Certification e.g. MCSE, Prince2, CoBit or equivalent IT certification will be an advantage.
- A minimum of two years of relevant experience in Information Technology and/or other directly-related technical fields is required.
- Previous hands on experience and knowledge of ERP Systems (i.e. SAP) are considered an asset.
- Proven experience on LAN/WAN technologies and protocols including TCP/IP, DNS, FTP etc.
- Systematic methods of troubleshooting and analytical problem solving, providing assistance to users.
- Proven experience in software including Anti-Virus, Backup systems, automated software deployment, Help Desk ticketing systems, etc.
- Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience of various computer platforms and applications: operation systems, email and database systems, Windows Operating Systems (2012 Server and Client), Active Directory, Office365, Microsoft Office product suites, Help Desk software, advanced Service/PC/ laptop/printer installation, configuration, troubleshooting and repairs.
- Work experience with a development organization is an asset.
- Experience with enterprise client-server systems and applications.
- Knowledge of UN/UNICEF’s rules, regulations and procedures is considered an asset.
- Proven ability to work with minimum supervision.
- Excellent customer support skills.
- Experience in generating technical reports, business cases, etc. will be an asset.
- Fluency in English (verbal and written) is required. Knowledge of an additional UN Language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish) is considered an asset.
- Local language is required.
