United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Child Protection Emergencies Specialist in Yaoundé, Cameroon. The duration of this post is 9 months.
The Child Protection Emergencies Specialist will develop strong relationships the Chiefs of zonal offices, the representative, the deputy representative, the chief of field operations, and the CPiE staff at Yaoundé and zonal office level.

Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Child Protection Emergencies Specialist will perform the following functions-
- Provide advice to the Chief in supporting the existing annual work plan including developing strategies and determining priorities/targets and performance measurements around the humanitarian crisis.
- Coordinate work progress monitoring and ensure results are achieved according to schedule and performance standards and report critical issues for timely action.
- Provide technical assistance/advice to colleagues in the Section on all aspects of programming and implementation to enable colleagues to achieve program/performance objectives.
- Analyze with the team on the field and other partners the protection environment.
- Recommend strategic options which can contribute to achieve the expected results.
- Promote critical thinking and innovative approaches and good practices for sustainable child protection programs/projects initiatives through advocacy and technical advisory services.
- Keep abreast, research, benchmark, introduce and implement best and cutting edge practices on child protection management and information systems. Institutionalize and disseminate best practices and knowledge learned.
- Contribute to the development of policies and procedures and introduce innovation and best practices to ensure optimum efficiency and efficacy of sustainable programs and projects.
- Organize/plan/implement capacity building initiatives to enhance the competencies of clients/stakeholders to promote sustainable results on child protection and related programs/projects.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- An Advanced University degree in international development, human rights, psychology, sociology, international law or other social science field is required.
- A minimum of 8 years of professional experience in child protection in emergency both at the field and coordination level.
- Strong experience in:
- Drafting policy and advocacy papers in CPiE.
- Analyzing data on CPiE.
- Developing and delivering training.
- Fluency in French and English is required.
- Knowledge of another official UN language or a local language is an asset.
