The Commonwealth of Learning (COL) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Designer and Production Coordinator based in Canada.
The Designer and Production Coordinator provide graphic design and production services to COL staff for all their print and digital media needs.
COL helps governments and institutions to expand the scale, efficiency and quality of learning by using new approaches, appropriate technologies, and open and distance learning (ODL) methodologies.
Key Job Responsibilities
The Designer and Production Coordinator will perform the following functions-
- Design and co-ordinate all elements of the production of materials with printers and other vendors.
- Conduct print preparation of all COL newsletters, brochures, books, reports, course materials, official documents and publications.
- As part of a technical team, perform website design and production duties such as making publications available on-line in various formats, creating new web pages, and performing page maintenance as needed.
- Initiate and respond to internal and external digital media transfers and requests (design conversions, photos, logos, etc).
- Plan for, and prioritise, the provision of design, administrative and technical support to COL staff including: formatting and managing documents, preparing presentations, image and video management, print brokering, and training in all of the above.
- Carry out video production and editing.
- Provide end-user assistance relating to tools used in proofing and production.
- Establish and raise awareness of, procedures relating to graphic design and production.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Grade 12 Education.
- Graphic Design and/or Communications
- Diploma or equivalent training and experience.
- 5+ years’ experience in print, web, pre-press and graphic design, including working with Adobe software and MS-Office at an advanced level.
- Experience in video production and editing.
- Vocational qualifications relating to administrative skills or equivalent.
- A range of administrative roles, preferably in an organisation working in education, international development or the non-profit / NGO sector.
