Save the Children is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Proposal and Report Writer in Niamey, Niger. The duration for the post is of 1 year.
The Proposal / Report Writer will be deployed to the capital location to support the countries’ efforts to obtain funding and hence submitting concise, relevant and timely proposals for funding.

Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Proposal and Report Writer will perform the following functions-
- Expected to support the PDQ in response strategy and master budget development, proposal development, narrative and financial reporting.
- Work in collaboration with the Grants and Awards Manager initially on an outstanding list of donor reports that are due and also working with the teams to pull together the necessary proposals for further funding.
- Respond for the need to increase proposal writing capacity, financial and narrative reporting, whilst overseeing grant submissions for all sectors as appropriate.
- Expected to mentor and/or capacity build existing country programme staff.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Experience of working internationally in humanitarian programmes.
- Previous experience of project management and project cycle management, including project design, implementation and evaluation.
- Diploma, Masters Degree or equivalent.
- A high level of written and spoken French and English essential.
- Experience of leading the preparation successful funding (narrative and budget) proposals and reports for donors, including ECHO, DFID and OFDA. Understanding of CAP and Appeal processes.
- Good understanding of donor compliance and reporting mechanisms and requirements.
- Demonstrated experience of participating in multi-sector needs assessments.
- Demonstrated monitoring and evaluation skills.
- Experience of representation and ability to represent SCI effectively in external forums.
- Proven capacity to deliver training and coach staff.
- Experience of and commitment to working through systems of community participation and accountability.
- Experience of budget management and monitoring.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Politically and culturally sensitive with qualities of patience, tact and diplomacy.
- Willingness to be extremely flexible and accommodating in difficult and sometimes insecure working circumstances.
- Commitment to the aims and principles of SCI. In particular, a good understanding of the SCI mandate and child focus and an ability to ensure this continues to underpin our support.
- Experience or knowledge of working and living in relevant regions/contexts.
- Experience of leading needs assessments.
- Experience of SCI member proposal development and reporting mechanisms.
