The Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Consultant, Carbon Trading and Coal Cap Policy Analyst in Beijing, China.
The Consultant, Carbon Trading and Coal Cap Policy Analyst will work with research partners on analyzing the issues, and will also help to coordinate coal cap and carbon trading policy integration research with other carbon trading assistance programs in China.
NRDC’s China Program is at the forefront of supporting China’s efforts on energy efficiency, renewable energy and environmental protection.
Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Consultant will perform the following functions-
- Preparing technical analysis and policy recommendation reports, primarily in Chinese, but also in English, on the integration of a national carbon cap and trade program with a national coal cap policy, based on the experiences of carbon cap and trade programs in the US, European Union and elsewhere.
- Communicating this analysis and policy recommendations to Chinese policymakers, research institutes, industry, experts, and other relevant parties, to support the integration of a carbon cap and trade program with a coal consumption cap policy in China.
- Cooperating with project partners on research related to integration of a carbon cap and trade program with a national coal cap policy.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Ph.D. (or a Masters with extensive research or industry experience) in economics, energy, environmental policy or a related field.
- Excellent research and writing skills in both Mandarin and English.
- Strong technical and analytical skills.
- Ability to communicate and advocate ideas and recommendations clearly and effectively in writing and orally.
- Prior experience with carbon cap and trade programs and policy advocacy.
