United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Planning & Monitoring Specialist in Geneva, Switzerland.
The Planning & Monitoring Specialist will ensure that the Private Fundraising & Partnerships (PFP) Division has useful, valid and reliable information on the performance of private sector fundraising & private sector engagement (non-financial) activities, including their relevance, efficiency, effectiveness, and sustainability.

Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Planning & Monitoring Specialist will perform the following functions-
- PFP division has a well-prioritized and realistic plan of research, monitoring and evaluation activities, developed collaboratively that provides all the relevant and strategic information needed to manage the Private Fundraising & Partnerships Strategic Plan.
- A Situation Monitoring and Assessment system collectively owned by all key PFP stakeholders and partners is in place, through which the stakeholders and partners have timely and accurate measurements of progress toward work plan and strategic goals; this information is available to facilitate planning and measure impact of activities and investments.
- Strategic Planning and other sections of PFP have quality information collected and disseminated with the participation of all concerned stakeholders and partners to assess progress towards expected annual and multi-year results.
- Evaluations attain established UNICEF quality standards, and the results are disseminated in a timely fashion to stakeholders for improving performance and contributing to divisional learning.
- Monitoring and evaluation capacities of PFP staff and partners enhanced with the contribution of UNICEF knowledge partners meet the expectations and requirements of their positions and responsibilities.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- An advanced university degree (Master’s) in Social Sciences, Management, Planning, Monitoring, Evaluation, Statistics, Demography, Development Planning, or a directly-related technical field(s) is required.
- A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in programme planning, monitoring, evaluation, demography, statistics, and/or a directly-related technical field is required.
- Prior knowledge and experience in monitoring and evaluation, demography, statistics, data management, data analysis and/or reporting is required.
- Prior knowledge of Project Evaluation is highly desirable
- Prior expertise in research methodology, including theories, standards and models, quantitative/qualitative/mixed methods, validity and reliability testing of data is considered highly desirable.
- Fluency in English (verbal and written) is required.
- Knowledge of an additional UN Language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish) is considered an asset.
